As many other tourist destinations in the world, Bali also has a lot of places to shop, from the high class fashion outlets such as DKNY, Polo, or Tommy Hilfiger to the Local shop outside the road that we can bargain the price.
There are some places we can choose
Bali Collections
Located in Nusa Dua southern part of Bali, also well known as the place of high class resort hotel. Bali Collections is the shopping complex set up for the many resorts that are located in the area. With the Grand Hyatt Bali to the south,
the Melia Bali Sol to the north and the twin ‘islands’ of Nusa Dua only 400 meters to the east, the complex is easy to find. Nusa Dua itself feels like Beverly Hills, with manicured lawns, sprawling properties and a distinct lack of anything local. The Bali Collection has the feel of an outdoor mall in California, complete with small restaurants with outdoor dining, palm trees and a tranquil vibe. Visitors to Bali staying in one of the large resorts in Nusa Dua will appreciate the Bali Collection
for its selection of shops and restaurants. The supermarket allows guests to stock up on important items and save money. Bali Collection is open daily 11am till late.
•Parking:
Bali Collection has 3 main parking areas capable of accommodating 850 cars. Parking is free.
Bali Discovery Mall
The first thing that hits you when you walk into Discovery Mall from the main street, is the smell of bread, or shall I say dough. Sugared dough is one concept that has spread around the world, and like crack to crackheads, this stuff is irresistible to shoppers. If I ask Indonesians if the they like bread, they’ll all say no. Take them to a mall with sugared dough and they just have to have it. Discovery Mall is ideally located to make bank, if the owners pack it with ‘bule friendly’ merchandise. They already have Starbucks and Pizza Hut. That together with the ‘sugared dough’ and $30 surf shorts should entertain the kids for a good 2 hours. For visitors to Bali, you will find good quality goods in this shopping center. Everything has a price tag and prices are non-negotiable. I bought a very nice sarong one time from the batik store on the ground floor.
Carrefour
The newest shopping center is Carrefour at the Sunset Road which features the huge hypermarket of the French retailer on the top floor selling on over 8,000 sq.m. food, baked goods, prepared food, wine, diary products, fridges, TVs, luggage, clothing, furniture, computers etc. all in one place similar to a Wal-Mart in the US. The lower floors accommodate a variety of shops including a Periplus bookshop, an Apple-authorized reseller and many food outlets. Opening hours are daily from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Sukawati
If you asked Balinese where to find cheapest arts and craft, they will recommend you Sukawati!!
Located at Gianyar, Sukawati has a traditional market on the main road and side streets. Known for its art market where you can get the "cheapest price" handicrafts. A wide range of souvenirs of Bali are available, both in finished and semi-finished state. A large variety of woven baskets can be found here along with Balinese ceremonial items made from colourful "Prada" - gold painted cloth. As well paintings, all types of handicrafts and fabrics can be had for a really good price.
Just remember to bargain to get the best buys!
Semar Kuning
Many paintings are displayed in this big workshop. It seems like a gallery instead of a workshop. Here you can relax and enjoy many kinds of different beautiful painting. You will get explanation from staff about the paintings. Located just one kilometer southern of Ubud Village, here is the centre of all kind painting styles.
